Manna Ministries Foodbank, Christ' Kitchen, Care and Share Emergencies,
SNAP Program, Life Bridge Shelter, St. Albans Food Pantry and
Jericho House

Missions and Outreach Committee Report
August 2011
The Missions and Outreach Committee met on August 30th with the following items discussed and reviewed:
1) As we prepare for the upcoming Auction and Pig Roast, along with Christmas Baskets, our budget and any
remaining monies were discussed so that we are aware of funds and expenses.
2) "Seeds that Feed", Snack Bags to Schools program. Again this year we will be supporting the program by
filling gallon ziplock bags with snacks and making them available to school children. Schools that our church
will be supporting again this year include McKinley Middle School and Weimer Elementary School. This will be
the second year our church has supported this outreach program.
3) Amadaville Community Day will be held on September 10 with the Missions and Outreach supporting this
celebration again this year. Several items will be supplied including the Jupiter Jump and Inflatable Maze for
children, along with drinks, cookies, cakes and other items.
4) Pig Roast and Auction will be held on October 1. Ernie Downey will be providing publicity through the church bulletin
and Newsletter, along with information to the church via the website.
Our next meeting is planned for late October or early November

Islamic Center Dinner Invitation
On July 13, an invitation was received by our church to join in an evening of faith sharing and dinner with the
Islamic Center. The dinner will be held at the Islamic Center in South Charleston on Kanawha Turnpike on
August 12 at 8:15. The dinner is limited to 50 attendees from St. Andrew and reservations MUST be made
through the church office. Plan now to attend this event to share a meal and take advantage of this great
opportunity to learn more about the Center, their congregation and have an enjoyable evening.

Missions and Outreach Committee Report
June 2011
The Missions and Outreach Committee met on June 13 with the following items discussed and reviewed:
1) The Church received a thank you note for our donation and participation in this years Bishops Bike Ride.
Tim Priddy from our congregation represented St. Andrew again this year.
2) A note from UMCOR to the our Church thanking us for our donation to the Japan Emergency fund.
3) The Missions and Outreach Committee is working with the Youth Director to open a line of communication
with some of the children of San Salvador. The Youth will take this on as a project to send letters to the San Salvador
youth with information and pictures of our Church and activities.
4) CHRISTMAS BASKETS - this seasonal outreach for families in the St. Albans area will begin in August and continue
up until Christmas. Each week the weekly bulleting will contain a list of 3 items needed for that week. Each monthly
Newsletter will contain a list of all the items being collected for the month. This process will continue through August
and September then we will recycle through the items again with those items remaining.
5) PIG ROAST and AUCTION - On October 1, the Missions and Outreach Committee will sponsor a Pig Roast and
Silent/Live Auction. Works are still in the planning phase with ANY crafter, Sunday School class, or individuals
wishing to donate handmade items, various baskets, etc. being ask to support this event. A note will be included i
n the bulletin and in the Newsletter requesting donations.
Our next meeting is planned for early August

The Missions and Outreach Committee met on May 9 with the following items discussed and reviewed:
area churches. Our support of the program is directed to Weimer Elementary and McKinley Middle Schools. Of the 88 bags
being delivered to Weimer and McKinley, 10 of these are provided weekly by St. Andrew. This program will wrap up
for the summer, but plans are in place for us to continue this great outreach effort again in the fall.
